Fun Things to Do in Lahaina
Lahaina has always been the hub activity on Maui, and even with the rise in population in nearby towns like Kahului and Kihei, the action still happens in Lahaina. The town offers a long list of great things to do, with so many restaurants and tons of shopping, plus the center of it all – Front Street! On this popular street, the ocean is just steps away, and there is more than enough to do to fill a day of walking, shopping, dining, and exploring.
With so much going on in Lahaina, you might need some direction, and ideas for narrowing down the options, so here are a few things to do in Lahaina during your trip to Maui.
Explore Front Street – as we have already mentioned, Front Street is where the most action goes down, and is an obvious choice for spending some time in Lahaina. Dine and shop along the street and enjoy incredible views of the ocean while you do so. It’ll be clear to see why. Front Street has been named one of the greatest streets in the country.
Banyan Tree Park – You cannot visit Lahaina and not see one of the oldest things you will ever get the chance to see. While the park as a whole is incredible, it is even more impressive that the oldest tree found here dates back to 1873!
Take in a show at the Historic Maui Theatre – After exploring Front St. and getting your fill during the day, take in a night shows at the historic Maui Theatre. Nightly performances include “Burnin’ Love”, a tribute to Elvis Presley, and Ulalena, an incredible show telling the story of the various waves of arrivals to the Hawaiian Islands.
Enjoy the views of Lahaina Harbor – Located right off of Front St. and just behind the banyan trees is Lahaina Harbor. The boats that are docked here range from multi-million dollar yachts to locally owned fishing boats. Lahaina Harbor is where many of the islands top snorkeling activities and Dinner Cruises depart from here every day.
Lahaina is an old whaling town, and there is so much history located throughout the area. We love visiting Lahaina, and know that you will love it too. Strolling around town and checking everything out is a great way to spend an afternoon, and topping it off with an evening show and a nightcap is a day well spent. Lahaina is centrally located on the west side of the island, so getting there is very easy. You will love the town, and the fun things to do in Lahaina.
