All About Ulalena – Maui’s Premiere Evening Show

A night on the town in Lahaina might include a few different things, and an evening show at a historic theater might be one of them. Surely you’ll head out for a great meal, and perhaps even have dessert somewhere, or a nice cocktail on Front Street while staring out at the ocean. The centerpiece of the evening is all that is missing, and if you’re looking for a show that will be the perfect compliment to the rest of the evening, Ulalena is that show.

The show takes place at the historic Maui Theatre, and features high-flying performances, captivating storytelling, and music that sets the tone for the entire performance. The show has become recognized around the islands for its unique combination of art, and all-around performance. It has quickly become the must see show on Maui, and during your visit to the island, will be a part of a perfect evening.

Seating Options

Though the theatre has a limited capacity,  there are 4 seating options for Ulalena, and each section offers a different view. Available sections for Ulalena at the historic Maui Theatre are:

Platinum Seating – Located in the front half of the theatre (rows 1-7).

The show has a limited calendar, and performances for Ulalena take place four nights a week, making tickets a premium item. The Maui Theatre is quaint, and with only 680 seats inside the theatre, the demand for tickets is high. Tickets sell out fast, and often a couple weeks prior to show date.

Show time is 5:00pm and the duration is 90 minutes. If you choose the Silver, Gold, or Platinum seating, this leaves time for dinner once the show releases.

Throughout the entirely of the show, traditional Hawaiian storytelling, songs, and dance are front and center, plus high-flying acrobatics bring in a completely different element. The show tells the story of the numerous waves of arrivals to the Hawaiian Islands over the years, starting way back with the earliest arrivals, and continuing to more recent historic events. Music and dance are a big part of everyday life in Hawaii and this wouldn’t be a traditional show if music wasn't included. The traditional songs and dance tell the story and bring to life the history of the islands. The high-flying acrobatics are added in seamlessly, making this a unique blend of ancient traditions and modern performing techniques.
